Danny Roarkes thirty-six year adventure through love and lust is reminiscent of Homers Odyssey and Joyces Ulysses. The novel begins when Danny is a college senior during the final year of the radical 1960s. He goes from college student, to professional soccer player hauntedby the Vietnam War, to Cornell doctoral candidate enduring several turbulent relationships. Eventually, as a professor he develops a theory of genuine teaching at a small private university in Florida. He defends his most inspired graduate students career when she is denied tenure, then both of their careers are sabotaged by two malcontent faculty members. From rebellion in the free love Sixties, to reconciliation as his parents age and die, Dannys journey winds through his friends and extended family of brothers, their wives and children. Named for the Irish song Danny Boy and Daniel in the biblical lions den, astrological implications develop as he encounters women from every zodiac sign. Danny Roarke travels America, Spain, Mexico and Ireland in search of authenticity and one great love.

The problem? I aint getting enough! (Its flat-out addicting, yall!) I already have a boy toy, yall, and he really is gorgeous, funny, charming, great in bed, well-hung (I saw that thread, LMAO), and is totally respectful of Mr. Web and our relationship. He is pretty much perfect in every way except one: he travels and is pretty much gone all the damn time. When we do get to play, its awesome, but I think Id like to have it a little more frequently. OK, OK, I would like to have it a lot more frequently (LOL). What can I say? Im a freak! So I am actively looking for another boy toy . . . or toys. Which brings me to my second problem: we are in the middle of freaking nowhere in the freaking Bible belt! What is a horny (but fairly picky) chick to do? I think Im screwed (or not screwed in this case). Any suggestions, comments, and just plain ol sympathy will be welcome (LOL).

The Stories We Tell Ourselves: Mentalizing Tales of Dating and Marriage is about the dynamics of intimate interpersonal relationships (dating and marriage) - how and why human pairings occur, what helps them function optimally and how therapists can intervene when they don't. J. Mark Thompson and Richard Tuch employ a multidimensional perspective that provides a variety of "lenses" through which intimate relationships can be viewed. The authors also offer a new model of couples therapy based on the mentalization model of treatment developed by Peter Fonagy and his colleagues. This book is aimed at those interested in the nature of intimate relationships as well as those wishing to expand their clinical skills, whether they are conducting one-on-one therapy with individuals struggling to establish and maintain intimate relations or are conducting conjoint treatment with troubled couples who have sought the therapist's assistance. Thompson and Tuch view relationships from a wide array of different perspectives: mentalization, attachment theory, evolutionary psychology, psychoanalysis, pattern recognition (neuroscience), and role theory. A mentalization based approach to couples therapy is clearly explained in a "how to" fashion, with concrete suggestions about how the therapist goes about clinically intervening given their expanded understanding of the dynamics of intimate

Toys—those celebrated childhood cohorts and lead actors in children’s imaginative play—have a fantastic history of heroism in fiction. From teddy bears that guard sleeping babies to plastic soldiers and cowboys who lay siege to wooden block castles, toys are often the heroes of the stories children inspire authors to tell. In this collection of new essays, scholars from a great range of disciplines examine fictional toys as protectors of the children they love, as heroes of their own stories, and as champions for the greater good in the writings of A.A. Milne, Hans Christian Andersen, William Joyce, John Lasseter and many others.
